Gender prediction based on old wives tales

  1. The ring test. I have tried the ring test over and over again. (If you don’t know what the ring test is…grab a piece of your hair and slip your wedding ring through it. Then trace the ring over each of your fingers and hold it still over your hand. If it swings from side to side, the baby is said to be a boy. If the ring goes in a circle, the baby is said to be a girl.

I tried this test 3 times this morning and got the same results every time:

    Girl first (that’s our Ellie).

    Boy second (that’s our Brecken).

And the third time I did it, it swung from side to side again, indicating a boy.

  2. Sweet vs. Salty cravings.

At the start of this pregnancy I was definitely leaning more salty than sweet. I was craving cheese and crackers and carrots and ranch. Boy.

Now, I find myself sneaking pieces of Easter candy in the middle of the day. Girl.

Both on this one. : )

  3. Bright complexion / Pregnancy glow, or no?

Every pregnancy, I tend to break out more on my face. It is also the only time in my life that I break out on my back. I was broken out pretty bad for the first and second trimester. Thankfully, it is clearing up now that I am in my third trimester. Girl.

  4. Baby’s heart rate. Baby’s heart rate has been in the 150s at every appointment. Girl.

  5. Morning sickness. I didn’t have morning sickness, but I did feel like I was going to throw up if I didn’t eat right when I started to feel hungry. So I’m not sure where that one would fall…

  6. Chinese gender prediction calendar. Girl.

Either way, we will be thrilled! Knowing we will find out on baby’s birthday makes me even more excited for that special day!

Did you find the old wives tales to be true for you?
